![]() ![]() Playing on the Easy setting allows the player to always keep their current weapon after losing a life, a feature not available in any of the other settings, but locks the player out of the final boss stage and true ending, which usually occurs after all five main stages are completed. The traditional flamethrower, however, is missing. The power-ups in this installment consists of a Spread Shot, a Laser Gun and a Homing Gun. The dual weapon system from Contra III: The Alien Wars returns and the player's normal gun can now shoot in autofire once again. Two additional characters: Brownie (Tsugumin in the Japanese version), an android shaped like a small girl and Plissken, a tall reptilian humanoid alien (whose name is a tribute to the Snake Plissken movie character), can also be selected once the player has completed the game on Easy (Brownie) and Normal (Plissken). The player initially has a choice between two different player characters: Bill Rizer, the traditional Contra hero, or Genbei Yagyu from Neo Contra. As with most Contra games, up to two players can play simultaneously. The game can be played with the standard Wii Remote, as well as with the Classic Controller or a Nintendo GameCube controller. Olive, the representative of the Contra series in the maze battle multiplayer game, Bombergirl, uses a broom-like tool/weapon called "Tsugumin", which was allegedly created by BR-W9, who also happens to be nicknamed "Tsugu-Min".Contra ReBirth is a 2D run and gun video game developed by M2 and published by Konami for WiiWare.She apparently is an updated model of Browny, the combat robot from Contra: Hard Corps, and share some similarities, such as being tiny robots proficient in the use of heavy weaponry.Her model number, BR-W9, is a play on "Brownie".BR-W9 can be unlocked as a playable character by completing the game on "Easy Mode".īR-W9 informs the clone he is Bill Rizer.Whether she really betrayed the Contra Force or if it was actually part of a scheme to buy her some time by pretending to play along with his plans is unknown, as this story was never continued in any of the sequels. BR-W9 responded to this threat by offering him to become allies, to which Plissken apparently accepted. Once this was taken care of, fellow Contra commando Newt Plissken unexpectedly threatened her at gunpoint, revealing that he was actually non other than Chief Salamander, the leader of Neo-Salamander. ![]() After the Neo-Salamander army was defeated, and following her programming, BR-W9 proceeded to put "Bill" back into cryostasis. BR-W9 then sent "Bill" on a mission to stop this threat along with fellow combatant Yagyu Genbei. BR-W9 then played him a video message from the Galactic President, where the mandatary explained that the planet was under attack from an alien army known as the Neo-Salamander Force, which traveled back in time to the year 1973 in a campaign to annihilate the Contra Force of that era with their superior firepower. ![]() This individual, however, was presumably a clone of the real Bill, as he did not know anything about his past or even who he was. BR-W9 was given the task of awakening " Bill Rizer" from cryogenic stasis. ![]()
